Artist Biography: Madelon Hett (Mixed Media Artist), Royal Oak, Michigan
Madelon Hett, born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1963, is an American Fine Artist, photographer,
and illustrator who is influenced by the American Pop Art Movement and especially the work of
Andy Warhol. Her work explores the relationship between form and color and seeks to see
beyond the eye with a rich and luxurious palette. Her love for 1960s and 1970s design is evident
in her paintings. Playful best describes her finished work.
Raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, to an artist mother, Madelon attended Shrine High School and
graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design
in 1987.
Madelon’s larger commissions can be seen at The Beaumont Cancer Center in Royal Oak, The
Trillium Oral Surgery Center in Ann Arbor (over 50 unique works in one setting), and
commissions in homes across Michigan since 2013. Her work and commissions include
photography, paintings, collage, mixed media, and hand-painted photography. She has an
organic hands-on approach to art and texture derived from years of Old-World plaster application
to rooms and cathedral ceilings high atop the scaffolding with a 40-foot view.
Madelon’s current focus is on urban architecture and the imagery of Metropolitan Detroit past
and present.
